Auntie Zulema is an archive-based film edited by me during my MA in Visual Anthropology at Goldsmiths, University of London (Buenos Aires, 2021). Based on a true story, the work honours La amiga de Zulema, a film directed by Juana Mauri and soon to be released.
Working with archive footage, the edit becomes an act of care and interpretation, attentive to intimacy, gesture, and what lingers beyond the frame. Sound is central to the piece: Juana Mauri and I composed the original music and lyrics together, which were recorded in London and editing/post at Abbey Road Studios.
The film reflects my interest in archive-based practice, collaborative authorship, and storytelling as a relational process, where editing becomes a way of holding memory.
